CPG Business Analyst Responsibilities (full-time position)

We offer a unique combination of work experience, skills training, and professional mentoring designed to graduate the Business Analyst into a consultant role. At CPG, you will:

  • Learn real-world business strategy by interacting with executive and senior management teams at client companies.
  • Hone your analytical skills to support decisions at the executive level that have a direct impact on our client’s success.
  • Develop and deliver client presentations, learning how to communicate the results of your research and analyses to senior executives in concise and compelling ways.
  • Write detailed industry reports, compile economic updates, and have the opportunity to become a published author/industry analyst. In your first year at CPG, you will take responsibility for the firm’s annual Top Performing Banks study published by the American Bankers Association. These reports are read by thousands of senior bankers across the globe each year.

Analysts are critical members of our client engagement teams. As such, analysts take the lead role in generating required research, analyzing data, and taking part in brainstorming sessions with the consulting staff and our clients. CPG’s Business Analysts gain exposure to both the consulting and financial services industries. The analysis you work on might include:

  • Manipulating and analyzing data pertaining to customers and the markets in which our clients compete to find opportunities for growth and improved profitability.
  • Analyzing banking and fintech industry financial trends and company-specific financial performance versus peers and investor expectations.
  • Conducting secondary research on industry topics and trends including emerging strategies for growth and profitability; new products and services and their results in the market; and operational advantages of major financial services companies.
  • Analyzing company-specific news, financial results, and developments to inform business development activities for the firm.
  • Developing spreadsheet models to quantify the financial impact of business initiatives and the effects of consulting team recommendations.
  • Performing analysis on marketing campaign results to help improve campaign strategy.
  • Working on projects with a marketing compliance/risk management-related focus.

Historically, this position may require travel to client locations across the United States (up to 5% of your time).

Note: The CPG team has an office in Dupont Circle, Washington, DC, and has adopted a hybrid workforce model of both in-person and remote work. Applicants should anticipate this will continue for the foreseeable future.

Candidates for CPG’s Business Analyst Program must have:

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, marketing, economics, or related quantitative disciplines. Classes in money and banking, accounting, marketing, and statistics are strongly desired.
  • A 3.4 or higher GPA.
  • Well-developed analytical skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, especially Excel.
  • An aptitude and eagerness to learn.
  • The ability to manage several assignments concurrently.
  • A high level of interest in the financial services industry.
  • The ability to stay up to date on current events.
  • A high level of ethical integrity.

Applicants with internship experience in marketing or financial analysis functions will be prioritized.  Comfortability in building quantitative models is also viewed as a plus.

Education

An undergraduate degree is required and a transcript must be provided with your resume to be considered for the position.

Compensation

CPG offers a competitive salary that is commensurate with qualifications and generally falls within the range of $55,000-$70,000 per year depending on experience. We match contributions to our employee’s 401(k) plans and share the firm’s profits through bonuses.
